For those of you who are new to the city of Pittsburgh, cross the Monongahela River with me, note the fountain at the Point where the Susquehanna River meets the Mon to form the Ohio, the Beautiful River. Please come again as we at GMP continue to explore our city! In future, we plan to visit the Mon Incline and take a sight-seeing or dinner cruise via the Clipper fleet.

Andy and I visited the Duquesne Incline before the girls went back to college in August. To think I've lived here most of my life and never took a ride! What a treat of nostalgia. Plus, the view is stunning! We parked at Station Square in a free lot along the river and climbed the steps to the overpass. See Andy, Ruth and Susie above. I am behind the camera, as usual.
We crossed the highway and entered the building and bought a round trip ticket for $16.00 (for the four of us). To think that steelworkers used to ride an uncovered cable car in the winter. Brr! At the top is a museum with mostly interesting articles and maps, a room where you can watch the pulleys and gears in action and of course, the viewing platform. Take along some quarters to put in the viewer for close-ups, and make yourself a souvenir penny for a very small fee. You can even buy a hot dog and drinks from a vendor, but there are no restroom facilities. Most of all, Enjoy the View!
